  1. Dong Phayayen Waterfall, Saraburi 

A small limestone fall which cascades down in levels through small islets in the stone face. Visitors can play and swim in the pool below all year round and some parts are shallow enough for children to paddle in. The deeper parts, however, are signposted for safety.

In the area around the waterfall, you can find shops and restaurants, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing family day out.

  1. Ao Thalane, Krabi 

Ao Thalane is a small village, just 30km from Krabi town and one of the country’s best kayaking spots. Paddle through still waters surrounded by mangrove forests in this green paradise not far from the Andaman coast.

The route takes kayakers through a leafy valley between limestone peaks and is unsurprisingly regarded as one of the best places in the whole of Thailand for boat based exploration.

This spot combines a cafe, restaurant, homestay and campsite in one and couples them with incredible views, especially during the cool season.

The uniquely decorated two-floor cafe boasts a balcony for those wishing to dangle their legs and enjoy the panoramic view with an impressive reservoir in the background.

Another highlight is the view over Doi Pha Mhee mountain with the city visible between its twin peaks.

A great viewpoint from the top of Khao Kho mountain, with cosmo flower fields stretching out below making for some great photo opportunities. Visitors are free to walk among the meadows as long as they don’t damage or pick the flowers.

During the high season, villagers set up stalls and sell local produce near the entrance to the farm. The farm is best visited during the morning or early afternoon, with great views of the flowers in full bloom and mellow, natural light.

Come and admire the beautiful Hydrangea flowers on display here at Khun Pae’s house. As the weather cools at the end of the rainy season, the Hydrangeas bloom impressively in shades of white, blue and violet.

  1. Nam Lod Cave, Mae Hong Son 

This cave, situated in a lake, is full of beautiful stalagmites and stalactites which can be viewed from a raft as you enter the cave. Once inside, visitors can disembark and explore further, led by a local guide and using lanterns to light the way.

The cave was formed by running water from a spring up above in the mountains and  can be visited at any time of year.

Sirindhorn Dam has constructed from reclaimed stone and clay and aside from helping to produce electricity , serves as one of Ubon Ratchathani’s many tourist spots.

The surrounding views are breathtaking, making the dam a fine place to relax and take some great photos of the reservoir and awesome surrounding panoramas. 

.

The dam is flanked by countless species of trees and  makes for a lovely place to spend some time soaking up the atmosphere.

Situated in Huai Samran village, the garden features fresh white daisies and vibrant yellow chrysanthemums stretching out into the distance. Visitors here love nothing more than  to stroll among the blooms and find the best photo spots.

  1. Wat Tham Saeng Tham, Khon Kaen 

This temple, built beside a 250 million year old light grey limestone peak,  blends in perfectly with its surroundings and has an atmosphere similar to Bhutan.

The inside of the temple is a large cavern with Buddha images, a corner for offerings and prayer and a footprint of the Buddha set up high.

.

There’s also a viewing point to check out the panorama of the mountains and paddy fields below. Although the 100 step journey up to the temple can be a little tiring, the view is more than worth it.

This wonderful attraction, just a stone’s throw from Bangkok, was constructed to act as an education and research centre regarding the manifold flora and fauna found in Thailand’s Eastern region. The park is extremely popular as it offers the chance to both relax and learn something.

Covering an area of almost 1000 acres (approx. 2500 rai), the marshlands here offer things to see and do both on land and water. 

.

There are educational activities which allow visitors to explore and find out more about the wetlands here, as well as cycling, kayaking or taking a boat trip to admire the local flora and fauna.

Koh Nok. or ‘Bird Island’, a small island in the province of Chachoengsao, located at the mouth of the Bang Pakong River, is home to a vast number of wildlife species.

There’s also a viewing tower to check out the views so you can relax and enjoy some great scenery.

The island itself is shady and cool with a constant breeze . Visitors have an opportunity to take part in the local conservation drive by helping to plant the mangrove forest.

Relax among some unspoilt scenery and find out about the local plant life. There are two important waterways running through the park, Klong Madeua and Klong Takien, which form a large natural pond before emptying into the Nakhon Nayok river below.

Khao Raboet viewing point is an area of natural beauty with a thrilling path to the summit and a chance to check out some of Chonburi’s most impressive views and even some fog and mist.

 .

The area atop Khoa Raboet is vast and flat and is often used for extreme sports like parascending, mountain biking, motorbiking and ATV racing.

You can also camp out here but make sure you call to confirm your pitch with the officers before turning up as the area is home to a lot of wildlife.

This vast freshwater lake sits in a scenic valley and is also the source of nearby Songkhla lake.

As well as forest and swamp areas and hundreds of lotus flowers gathered on the water’s surface, there are countless plant species to be found here. The area was declared a hunting-free zone in 1975 and has remained so ever since. 

.

Bird watchers will really be in their element here, with over 150 species of water birds, wading birds and ducks gathering here in their thousands and those wishing for a different view can row out to the middle of the lake in one of the boats. March to May is the best time to visit as the lotus flowers will be blooming and at their most beautiful
