- Ban Krang Camp, Petchaburi
Ban Krang Camp is a natural site not far from Khao Phanoen Thung mountain and a great place for spotting the numerous species of butterfly native to Thailand.

Here you’ll find thousands of butterflies encompassing over 200 different species as well as a nature trail which is heavily populated by birds and other local wildlife.

The best time to see the butterflies is in late summer, from March-April, as that’s when they are at their most abundant. It’s a good idea to call Kaeng Krachan National Park ahead of your visit for advice and directions.

A countryside cafe with a great atmosphere and stunning 360 degree panoramic views of Phu Langka mountains and the surrounding area.

- Sapan Waterall, Nan
You’ve probably heard of this waterfall in travel circles before and it’s not surprising as it’s one of Thailand’s most abundant natural spots, with verdant forests and mountainous terrain bordering the waterfall.

This medium-sized waterfall features three levels and the water cascades over the rockface all year round creating a cool, moist feeling in the glade down below. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the waterfall from the parking lot.

Apart from the beautiful waterfall itself, there’s also a great 800 metre nature trail for those who love strolling among nature.

This is a naturally heated spring situated in a lush glade. The water is emerald in colour and you can easily see the stones and sand which lie on its bed.

As the water is fairly shallow here, tourists can spend time soaking in the pool and enjoying the surrounding nature. The spring itself occurs underwater and doesn’t shoot up above the surface.

This impressive temple, one of the landmarks of Khao Kho, features a large white Buddha image seated on a lotus bloom and travellers flock to admire its great beauty and tranquil surroundings as well as make merit and ask for blessings.

There’s also a beautiful pagoda at the peak, known as ‘Chedi Phrathat Pha Sorn Kaew Sirirachathamniamit’, which is beautifully decorated with multi-coloured tiles and most definitely worth a visit.

- Wat Rong Suea Ten, Chiang Rai
This temple is outstanding for Its unusual blue colouring, which makes an interesting contrast with the traditional gold of Thai temples. It was designed by a local artist known as ‘Sala Nok’, a student of Chalermchai Kositpipat.

Murals and intricate paintings in the chapel portray the history of the Buddha and his life. A large, white Buddha image is situated at the head of the chapel.

This temple, set in tranquil surroundings, is over a century old and is famous for the “Thum Payanak” cave, an underground chasm which seems to transport visitors into an underground city.

There are three main Buddha images inside the temple and most Buddhist visitors here make offerings and ask for blessings. There is also a golden chapel, a dharma centre and a replica of the Thum Payanak cave, all results of intricate Thai craftsmanship.

A vast expanse of sunflowers, backed by a mountain view and stretching as far as the eye can see, make a perfect spot for nature lovers and budding photographers alike. The best time to see these golden blooms is between November and January.

As well as the stunning mountain range in the background, if you gaze out across the fields you will also notice the striking white Wat Welu Wan temple in the background. There are also train rides around the perimeter of the fields.

The Temple of the Golden Dawn, one of Bangkok’s most well known temples, is often found adorning postcards sent back from a trip to the capital and is famed for its ornate spires or ‘prangs’, examples of Khmer style architecture.

These spires are decorated with glazed tiles. Bencharong style pottery and shells and the giants guarding them are part of a legend which also includes the giants at the adjacent Wat Po.

Mon Bridge, or to give it its Thai name “Sapan Uttamanusorn” is the world’s longest wooden bridge, clocking in at around 1 km and providing a connection between villages inhabited by Thais and Mon tribespeople.

This wooden structure has become the symbol of the Sangkhlaburi district and travelers flock to watch the gorgeous sunsets over the bridge at the end of each day and watch the locals walk across the bridge.
