📍 Wat Chedi Ai Khai #Nakhon Si Thammarat

When talking about “Ai Khai,” it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t heard of #AiKhai at Wat Chedi in Nakhon Si Thammarat. This is another legendary temple with sacred stories that have been passed down for many years, making it well-known and famous.

The legend of “Ai Khai” has many versions. One says that Ai Khai is the spirit of a child who followed Luang Phor Thuat when he came to this abandoned temple for meditation. This spirit was tasked with guarding and protecting the temple’s treasures. Another version tells of a child who used to play in the temple but tragically drowned. The child’s spirit became bound to the temple, residing there ever since.

Inside Wat Chedi, there are countless offerings left by devotees, including items like rooster figurines, toy soldiers, slingshots, and various toys. Firecrackers often set off to demonstrate the strong faith in Ai Khai and to signify that the wishes made to him have been granted.

In addition to the revered “Ai Khai,” the temple also features a large ubosot (ordination hall) where visitors can pay their respects 🛕. It has become a place of strong faith, attracting people from near and far. This is definitely a temple not to be missed!

📍 Tham Nam Wang Srithammasokraj #Nakhon Si Thammarat

An important historical site in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, due to the discovery of numerous ancient artifacts within the cave, is also known for its beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Additionally, the cave features a waterfall inside. The cave under the mountain is currently known as #ThamNamWangSrithammasokraj, a newly opened tourist destination that has recently begun welcoming visitors.

Some of the ancient artifacts discovered within the cave are on display at the Khun Thale Subdistrict Museum, located near the Ta Khun Phol Pavilion or the General Maeng Kraipolkan Monument (Ta Khun Phol), the commander of King Srithammasokraj. This pavilion is not far from the entrance to Tham Nam Wang Srithammasokraj.

This cave is 4,444 meters deep, with stairs leading up to its mouth. Visitors then must descend into the cave. Initially, there was a metal bridge built for tourists to walk in and admire the shimmering stalactites and stalagmites when illuminated by lights ✨.

👉 For those interested in visiting the cave, you should contact the Khun Thale Municipality, which oversees the area, as cave visits require a guide and staff for supervision. Some areas of the cave lack lighting, and some spots have water depths exceeding 2 meters.

🚶 Although exploring the cave covers more than 4 kilometers and takes over 2 hours, the beauty of nature on display makes the trek less tiring than expected. The air inside the cave is cool and comfortable, with good ventilation, and the clear water allows you to see the fish swimming. If you’re visiting Nakhon Si Thammarat, don’t forget to stop by and explore # Tham NamWangSrithammasokraj!
