Ban Rai Kong Khing is a community-based tourism destination in Chiang Mai, highlighting the cultural heritage of the Lanna people. The community promotes responsible tourism, sustainable development, and the philosophy of a sufficient economy. Visitors can enjoy unique activities such as herbal spa and traditional massage like “Yum Khang” – literally, plough stamping. In this traditional practice, the healer dips one foot into herb-infused massage oil before pressing it on the hot iron blade of a plough, creating a captivating display of sizzling oil and leaping flames. The healer then skillfully uses their foot to massage the patient. The community showcases the local way of life, customs, and traditional events such as the Khan Tok dinner and Lanna dance, providing an authentic experience for tourists. Additionally, Ban Rai Kong Khing connects visitors to nearby attractions, including the Chiang Mai Night Safari, Royal Park Rajapruek, Wat Ton Kwen, and the traditional pottery village of Baan Muang Kung.
