Throwback to Yonok Nagaphan (Singhanavati Kingdom) A study of Lanna astrology and worship of the Buddha relics

The Lanna cultural community, which is historically significant, is rich in stories and legends. It also includes the ancient city of Chiang Saen, located along the Mekong River and bordering the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The Social Enterprise in Tourism for the Chiang Saen Community showcases local wisdom through various historically and culturally enriching activities.

Activity

The Taksa Hora activity: Astrologers, utilizing ancient Chiang Saen astrological knowledge, assess visitors’ astrology based on their names and birthdates. They then consult the city’s astrology to determine an auspicious cardinal direction that will enhance one’s destiny. Visitors can subsequently make merit by offering prayers at the pagoda in the designated auspicious direction of the city, aligning with their astrology to attract luck.
Loy Sapao activity: Visitors learn to craft Sapao (boats) from natural materials and adorn them with local snacks. They then float these tiny boats down the Mekong River to pay homage to their deceased ancestors and promote peace among participants.
