A trail every trekker must go once in their life and conquer the most beautiful yet brutal mountain in Thailand, Phu Kradueng.
When talking about Loei Province, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘Phu Kradueng’. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions with rich and beautiful nature trails to travel from the rainy to winter season.

Phu Kadueng is a favorable trail among trekkers because its height and rich nature makes the weather cool all year round. However, you must reserve your spot and receive your queue card in advance through the QueQ application, where you have to fill in your personal information and your date and time of travel. Upon arrival please show your reservation information to the staff. The park entrance fee is 40 baht for adults, 20 baht for children. If you bring your own car, there will be a parking fee of 30 baht per car.

When entering, you will also have to pay an insurance fee of 10 baht per person. Tents/beds can be reserved at the visitor center with the following prices:
Tent
- Standard tent, priced at 225 baht/night, can accommodate 3 people.
- Big tent, priced at 450 baht / night, can accommodate 6 people.
- Tent cabin, priced at 450 baht/night, can accommodate 6 people.

Tent bedding
- Sleeping bag, price 30 baht/bag/night
- Mattress, price 20 baht/ piece/night
- Pillow, price 10 baht/night

If you bring your own private tent, there will be a camping site fee of 30 baht/person/night. If you think that you cannot carry your luggage by yourself, since it is a very long and steep trail, there are staff that will help you with a fee of 30 baht per 1 kilogram.

The 9 kilometers distance up Phu Kradueng is divided into 5.5 kilometers up to the mountain and a flat walkway to the tent site for another 3.5 kilometers. The journey is long and steep. However, along the way, there are some stopovers called ‘Sum’, which means tent, where you can stop for a break, buy water or food.

When you arrive at the top, bring the payment slip that you reserved for the tent to the staff and bring the tent that the staff has prepared to choose the area to pitch the tent. As for the bathroom, it is a shared bathroom, unfortunately with no hot water. The camp area has a lot of restaurants and welfare shops.

The highlight of Phu Kradueng is in winter when you can see the mesmerizing beautiful sea mist. The view has become an incentive for tourists who want to come up to experience the cold weather and admire the beauty of nature on the top of Doi Phu Kradueng once in a lifetime. After successfully conquering the top of the mountain, what should not be missed is to see the sea of mist and the sunrise in the morning at Pha Nok An. It is said that whoever does not come here is considered to have not arrived at Phu Kradueng.

For tourists who are interested in conquering Phu Kradueng, the park is open from October 1 – May 31 every year. And it is closed from June 1 – September 30 every year in order to restore nature to be fertile again.

Tips for a fun and environmentally friendly trip included asking for cooperation from tourists not to bring portable picnic gas stoves into the park to reduce accidents and forest fires. If a fire is to be built, the fire should not be placed on the ground and the grass. Make a bonfire in the brazier and put a stone or pad under it, so that the heat does not burn the grass until it damages. Tourists should carry a personal water bottle instead of using a plastic bag in order to reduce the amount of unwanted garbage around the park. Please strictly maintain the rules within the area in order to make the rest of all tourists travel smoothly and happily.
